Its the Bit.ly support that does it for me. Any way of making the system save the API data field and username so that I dont have to enter this over and over again.
@Rob, nice short URL there, but is there a reason you don’t start with the actual shortened URL at the smallest possible length? You generate 6 characters and you’ve only shortened less than 10,000 URLs. urlShort (u.mavrev.com) generates only 4 characters and we’ve shortened over 130,000 URLs. If you generated them in the smallest fashion possible a.gd would offer some of, if not the, shortest URLs possible.
If you ever consider using shorty http://get-shorty.com, let me know. That is my URL shortener of choice. It is still in beta but I have never had a probelem. As long as my domain is up my shortened URLs work.
My off topic question, though, is just what is the business model for the shorteners, or are they just lovely people? There’s a bit of a discussion here: http://tr.im/hSXu , but no real conclusions. The pay-for branded shorteners look attractive on the surface, but it just gets back into the old over-priced .com domain battles.
Hi,
I see you have many requests, not meaning to inundate you, I would like to see http://www.snipr.com becomming supported in your URL shortening sites.
Thanks for your great work!
Tim
While I’m a big fan of Bit.ly, I’ve recently come to know of a new service called Scrnch.Me that deserves a closer inspection. The creator Bill O. is you classic tech savvy guy who understands both business and social media issues – give the buyer what he wants and do it better, cheaper & faster.
We would like to include dry our site the list of “URL shorteners”. Our site http://verlink.net and API http://verlink.net/api.php. What do we need? Thanks, André Nascimento (Brazil).
I suggest an idea at the time that the User will add your Feed and to the extent that it selects the “URL shorteners” could be separated by country? I saw that has several sites around the world, our inclusive interested to include in the “URL shorteners” I think the User to be an interesting option, site name, ta for directing language of their country. Our “Verlink” in Portuguese> “ver” = look, go. Thanks http://www.verlink.net André Nascimento (Brazil)

Adam – see http://twitterfeed.wordpress.com/2009/01/02/no-more-isgd-url-shortener-support/
We used to support is.gd, but the API traffic to them was too high so they asked to be removed.
