In addition to directly posting to twitter and identica/laconica, twitterfeed now supports posting to Ping.fm, which means you can use twitterfeed and Ping.fm to send blog and other RSS updates to the many social networking services Ping.fm supports, all in one go!
Here’s how it works:

- when logged into twitterfeed and creating a new feed, the dropdown box at the top of the screen now contains ping.fm as an option
- the next thing you need to do is enter your Ping.fm application key. If you’re already logged into Ping.fm, you can find this at http://ping.fm/key/, or there’s a link called “Application Keys” on your Ping.fm dashboard
- click on the “get available methods” link. This will populate a dropdown box with all the methods that you have set up in Ping.fm, so you need to have set up at least one service/method combination in Ping.fm
- select the method you want to post to (status, microblog, or blog), and the rest of the options are identical to a normal feed to twitter or identica
- if you selected “blog”, twitterfeed will send a long version of the content, while for “status” and “microblog” methods, messages are created and shortened in exactly the same way they are currently for twitter/identica
.. and that’s pretty much everything there’s to it. At the moment, items that are posted to twitter/identica via Ping.fm using twitterfeed will appear as “from Ping.fm” in twitter and identica – this may or may not change in future, I’m currently discussing options with the guys at Ping.fm.
Please note that this is functionality is brand new, so there may be issues I haven’t foreseen. If you do come across any problems, or have any suggestions to improve the twitterfeed/Ping.fm integration, please let me know at http://getsatisfaction.com/twitterfeed

Hello Mario,
The tweeterfeed stop working. Is it because we haven’t made a donation yet or did we violate any rules? My blogs are business related and the emails we submit to our blogs or either from non-profit organizations or legitimate business(es) we are aware of…please advise.
I have given instruction to remove the feeds temporarily.

fnord23: strange, I can’t replicate this problem. Have you set up at least one service in Ping.fm with a microblog, blog, or status method?
twitterfeed // January 27, 2009 at 6:50 pm |
C. Henry Adams, could you let me know the feed URL you’re posting, and I’ll take a look. There are no explicit rules other than the T.O.S. of the services being posted to, so this is most likely a technical issue.

This is a _great_ addition to TwitterFeed. I can see this being really useful. Thanks Mario!

Just noticed this today. Really useful for the feeds I had posting to both services, now I can just have one feed and send it to ping.fm. Thanks.

OffTopic: The Login over OpenID didnt work? I logged in via technorati the whole time. Now the following error occurs:
“Set Permission twitterfeed.comauth is asking permission for Technorati to verify your identity. Is this okay?” I say “grant once” and then Technorati means: “You do not have permission to authorize this url. Please sign in to the appropriate account.”

I cannot get Twitterfeed to accept my RSS from my WordPress blog. The URL for the RSS is:
http://www.fortwaynenews.com/index.php/feed/
Anyone have any ideas on what I need to do?
Thanks!

How about being able to Post to ping.fm without the URL shortening? This would be great for the blog posting.
Kathie Thomas // February 21, 2009 at 8:00 am |
What you didn’t mention was how to get the rss feed for your ping account? I can’t find any clues for that anywhere and have no idea how to find it.
twitterfeed // February 24, 2009 at 11:58 pm |
Kathie – see http://twitterfeed.com/help#faq2 for info if you’re not sure about your feed URL.

Hi, I been searching for 2 days to find the same thing. I read the FAQ but it still is not clear where to find the RSS URL for Ping.fm.
Please can you be more specific.
thanks.

Can anyone figure out how to stop it shortening my URLs when I post? I’ve changed it in the settings but when I check the sites it is still shortened.

Hi,
I’m using Twitterfeed to post the article titles of my news service RSS feed to Ping. I’ve noticed that if I add several new articles / pages and update the RSS for all of them within say an hour, only the last gets sent to Ping.
How far apart do I need to add new articles to the RSS feed for all of the titles to be sent to Ping please.
Best regards
Tony
twitterfeed // May 14, 2009 at 4:15 pm |
Mark – are you talking about ping.fm shortening the link, or twitterfeed shortening it (i.e. do you see a ping.fm link or some other shortened link)?
Tony – it should post all new items since the last time it checked. There is a setting in the feed settings (“post up to X items”) which determines the max. new posts it will send – what is that set to? Also, make sure the pubDates on new items are not absolutely identical, as in that case twitterfeed will only consider one of the items new, the others, if they’re not at least 1 second newer, will not be considered new and not be posted.
Tony Thornby // May 26, 2009 at 11:00 am |
Many thanks – my problem was a combination of same date (no hour/min setting on my RSS feed) and the number of items setting.

I’ve created my account on twitterfeed and I’m trying to create a feed to ping.fm. I paste in my key but nothing happens. I can’t enter any more info. All the input fields are empty and can’t be selected. What gives?

I have had success in getting Twitter RSS feed to Twitterfeed then to Ping.fm then to a Facebook page but it also reposts back to Twitter. I have disabled ping to post to Twitter so not sure where the double up is happening. Any thoughts?
